Santa Rita Maipo Valley 2012 Merlot Reserva (Chile), $10.99-$13.99, 86 points, poured opaque purple/red with a bleeding wine ring and thick legs.
Smells of toasty plum, sandalwood, and soft floral perfume were excellent.
Full-bodied with good acidity and a comfortable underlayment of tannin managed a rather complex array of flavors, some of which were cola, plum, blackberry, and black truffle.
Finished long on the trailing palate, easy spice notes, chocolate, and an easy 13.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my Mexican cuisine.
