Château Fonréaud Listrac-Médoc 2016 Red Bordeaux Wine, $16.14-$18.99, 90 points, poured a medium garnet red with a clear meniscus and moderate leggedness.
Aromas of chocolate, hot cinnamon candy, spring lake-water, and ripe red fruit were quite good.
A near full-bodied dry red wine with supportive tannins, good acidity, and flavors congruent with the aromas gave another French wine high marks with me; lean, acidic, dry red wines with appropriate alcohol levels are after all my preference in a red table wine, and Bordeaux reigns in that lexicon.
Finished fair on the trailing palate, a bit astringent, but nicely done on easy pepper spices and a compatible 14% alcohol.
Varietals were 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.
