Tenuta di Arceno 2019 Chianti Classico (DOCG), $18.69-$25.99, 89 points, poured a creamy cranberry color with a violet sheen, a thin clear wine ring, and copious stained legs.
Aromas were fruit-driven with a candied red raspberry, slightly sour plum, perfumed roses, and mushroom-earthiness.
This Chianti was a bone-dry medium-bodied red wine with tight grainy tannins, good acidity, and rather edgy flavors reflective of the aromas with a bit of black tea and red pepper (not a soft Merlot-styled red wine).
Finished long, a bit metallic, tart, tannic, and with a spicy infused 14.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my meat-lovers calzone.
