Bodega Atamisque Catalpa Mendoza, Argentina 2020 Malbec, $13.59-$17.99, 92 points, poured broadly black grading to a deep purple/red towards the glass rim, clear meniscus, and heavy stained-legs.
Aromas were earthy and grapey with hints of chocolate, mulberry, and pepper notes.
Maybe the best of my recent Malbec red wines and consistent with their overall character of being full-bodied with fair acidity (though this one was just a bit better), a luscious mouthfeel, and good flavors, in this case much better mint notes, anise, and blackberries.
Finished long on the trailing palate, a touch of eucalyptus, easy warm spices, and a well-balanced 14.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my Texas burger.
