Decoy, Duckhorn Portfolio, 2021 Zinfandel, $14.74-$22.99, 89 poured a deep ruby red with a purple sheen, a broad clear wine ring, and light numerous legs.
Aromas of wild blackberries, mulberries, and plums made up a rather fruit-driven profile.
This Decoy Zinfandel was close to medium-bodied, showed good acidity, supportive underlayment of tannin, and crisp tangy flavors reflective of the aromas with an excellent white pepper snap.
Finished fair (a bit short) on the fading palate, anise, and a well-balanced 14.1% alcohol.
Paired well with our pepperoni pizza.
