Spring Valley Vineyard Walla Walla Valley 2012 Frederick Red Wine, $27.19-$39.99, 92 points, poured bull's-eye black radiating deep purple/red with a broad clear wine ring.
Sea breezes, toasty plums, coffee, licorice, and a soft floral vibe with a hint of tobacco on the nose were enigmatically good.
Near full-bodied with fair-plus acidity, round underlayment of tannin, and an earthy plum dominated flavor profile accented by dried cooking herbs and cherries were rather elegant.
Finished well on the trailing palate, mint, warm spices, and a complementary 14.4% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my rare spiced rubbed rib-eye, butternut squash, and mashed potatoes.
Varietals were a Bordeaux-styled 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec, and 3% Petit Verdot.
