Clos Du Val Stags Leap District 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon

Clos Du Val Stags Leap District 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, $49.99*, 93 points, appeared black at the core trending rich crushed black fruit purple/red toward the broad transparent rim.
The profuse aroma of sweet cooking spice, cedar, sea breeze, and a bounty of toasty black fruit excels.
Just shy of a full body, the 2009 SLD Cabernet had bold acidity with powerful and accelerating tannin.
Fruit flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, hints of blueberry and black currant were awash with herbs, coffee, and tobacco notes.
Finished very long on the trailing palate and intense spice notes with a hint of the well balanced 13.5% alcohol.
SLD 2009 Cabernet came very close to an excellent Left Bank Bordeaux in style, and the cost makes this a very competitive choice in that niche.
*This was not an easy wine to find in New Hampshire, so when I saw them disappearing (four bottles left at two of the NHLSs I most often shop), and a $25 gift card, made this a "necessity".
