Caparzo 2010 Brunello DI Montalcino

Caparzo 2010 Brunello DI Montalcino, $32.29-$37.99, 92 points, poured core ruby red radiating cranberry red toward the clear wine ring.
The lovely floral red cherry/raspberry aromas impressed.
Medium-bodied with bright acidity and firm drying tannin were appropriate, supportive, and fat busting good.
Flavors were straight-forward red fruit and black tea with hints of oak inspired bourbon notes.
Finished on the trailing palate, white pepper, and a well integrated 14% alcohol.

  1. It is surprisingly straight forward but the value re: Brunello is hard to touch. I've seen this for $29 down here which is almost sill,y.

    1. John, thanks for commenting! As you know, Caparzo has been my most go-to Brunello, precisely because of the QPR; it is a great intro Brunello, pair-able, and though rather light-bodied, its varietal-ness just might open the door for Chianti drinkers to painlessly transition up.
I believe that the NHWM blog has linked your thorough Tuscan Vines almost a dozen times, and do advise those looking for an in-depth guide especially to what's what with Brunello to visit Tuscan Vines.

  2. Thanks Dennis, I appreciate that. But I don't know how "painless" the transition up will be once people get there :) I have liked this wine, but if you ever see their La Casa, it's a great bottle. Really quite a few steps up but still a relative value.
