Silvio Nardi Rosso's symbiotic relationship
with food is a marriage that makes for phenomenal perfection.
Tenute Silvio Nardi 2013 Rosso Di Montalcino, $18.59-$21.99, 93 points, poured a deep candy-apple red with some bricking toward the broad clear wine ring.
Aromatic flowers, fruity cherries, earth, and mint were excellent.
Marginally heavier-bodied than the other 2013 Rosso Di Montalcino wines tasted, but the mouthwatering acidity was consistent. Tannins were fine, grainy, and firm.
Rich flavors reflective of the aromas with bourbon notes were excellent too; more an adolescent Brunello than a baby Brunello.
Finished fabulously on red raspberry and cherry with hot spices, mint, and a sweet-spot 13.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my spaghetti and meatballs..
Just maybe the best Rosso Di Montalcino I've tasted, and how glad I am that I recommend this to the lady at the Bedford NHLS looking for a Nebbiolo under $35 (couldn't find one).

DeleteI have not. I've only tried their Brunello at the Benvenuto Brunello events. I don't see too much of their wine around. They are old school though... Austere and high toned Sangio.

ReplyDeleteVG: Keep in mind that I'm just a lowly blogger, but as I try to be as consistent as possible, and spend from 2 hours to 3 days with a wine, I 'work' very hard at a proper quality evaluation of each wine, but of course I have my prejudices and proclivities, and those that follow me take that into account. I've seen this Rosso offered on the internet for under $14, but I agree with you: ($18.59) "what a price!!!"
