Gruet Limited Release Grand 2011 Blanc De Blancs Sparkling Wine

Gruet Limited Release Grand 2011 Blanc De Blancs Sparkling Wine, $14.99-$29.99, 91 points, poured quite effervescent and with a full head of foam, medium size bubbles, and a coppery gold color.
Typical smells of hops and fresh white bread, a bit of apple too.
Light, crisp, acidic, with tasty tart citrus, a bit of ale, and a hint of tangerine were all excellent.
Finished long on the trailing palate, slightly off dry, and a comfortable 12% alcohol.
Heads and shoulders above any Champagne I've tasted at that price.
Paired great with my (don't say it) hot dogs.

  1. I think Gruet do a great job for the price. New Mexico, who would have thunk it?

  2. Hot dogs? I prefer mine with sea scallops and crab cakes. You need to try it.
