Brick And Mortar Sweetwater Springs Vineyard Russian River Valley 2014 Chardonnay, $32.29-$42.99, 90 points, poured a brassy yellow color that cleared at the glass wall.
Cantaloupe, vanilla, and a hint of citrus aromas were just okay for me.
Medium to medium-plus body kicked in with good acidity, a light/juicy mouth-feel, and carried excellent flavors of tamed oak notes and hints of lemon peel and ginger which trailed long into the delicious finish.
Alcohol was a restrained 13.5%.
Paired well with my grilled bone-in pork chops, garden salad, and nutty biscotti.

The taste was better than the nose then? It happens sometimes.
ReplyDeleteVG: We are two ships passing in the night! Ha!
DeleteIn general I'm not a fan of the aromas of Chardonnay, and in this case you have surmised correctly.
Too much oak, usually? I'd have to agree. Sail on...
