Souverain North Coast 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, $12.74-$19.99, 85 points, begins at the clear rim and trends bright purple-red to a black currant which is a very pronounced descriptor on the nose and flavor on the palate as well, all of which is too vegetative for my senses.
Other aromas of candy-like red cherry and sweet earthy notes are easily aerated out.
Though this wine paired well with red meat, as a stand-alone red wine, it fell short for me.
Near full bodied red wine with good acidity and moderate tannin, carries plum, cherry, and some spice all the way to the moderate finish.
