Neipperger Schlossberg 2010 Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir)

Neipperger Schlossberg 2010 Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), $28.04-$32.99, 90+ points, begins in the glass as a beautiful orange/red with a relatively thin transparent rim.
On the nose I smelled plum, black cherry, and earthy cooking spice, all of which carried faithfully onto the palate with a hint of alcohol (13.5%) and a moderately smooth medium-plus body of good acidity and fine tannin, but just a bit astringent.
Juicy strawberry, pomegranate, with white pepper and an unusual eucalyptus on the finish was very good, and quite dry.

  1. I read (instigated by the "V" and the "NOSE") that some earlier vintages were not very good, but this vintage seems to be of an apex character :-) Only U can decide!
