Rosemount Estate Australia 2007 Pinot Noir, $7.99-$11.99, 83 points, is the most dense purple/red color of any Pinot Noir I've seen, and is more of a black currant red than pomegranate red, with the obligatory clear rim.
Chocolate-covered cherries on the nose struck me as unusual, but interesting.
Medium-plus body shows mild acidity and very light tannin, but pale plum and coffee notes reveal a "past its peak" wine.
The finish of spice and heat (13.5% alcohol) is what is left of the life of this wine.
The aphorism to drink most Pinot Noir wines young is a good one.
