Bearboat Russian River 2009 Pinot Noir, $16.99-$19.99, 88 points, began in the glass medium ruby trending a light black currant color with a transparent rim.
A uniquely aromatic sweet cooking spice with a touch of red cherry wafted out of the glass.
Having a somewhat rough medium body with fair acidity, mild tannin, worked well with a bounty of red fruit, dominated by tart pomegranate and strawberry.
Finished on a pronounced 13.5% alcohol with spice notes and buffered with a smooth vanilla.
Bearboat has always been a value Pinot Noir.
