19 Crimes 2013 Red Wine (Australia), $9.99-$12.99, 87+ points, poured a medium dark maroon trending blackberry purple/red at the broad clear wine ring.
The toasty blueberry and blackberry aromas with hints of black currant were good.
Full-bodied with mild acidity and tannin surprises with an oxymoronic uncloying silky and unctuous mouth-feel.
Flavors mirrored the aromas, and with chocolate notes were fairly good.
Finished okay with hints of eucalyptus, black licorice, red cherry, and a well integrated 13% alcohol..
A friend of mine recommended this Australian red wine as one of his go-to bargain wines, and I can understand his choice.
