Columbia Crest Grand Estates Columbia Valley 2012 Chardonnay, $8.99-$12.99, 87 points, was a straw yellow color.
The nose was citrus and oak.
Medium-plus body with fair acidity and dominant flavors of butter, caramel, oak, and tangerine were just okay for me.
Finished well on white pepper notes and a well integrated 13.5% alcohol.
To me this was very much like a Cali Chardonnay, and not as pleasant or "Northwestern" as the 2009 vintage.

Sounds like everything I dislike about American Chardonnays.
ReplyDeleteI agree, but it wasn't over-the-top!
