Bodegas Convento de Las Claras Ribera del Duero, Spain, 2013 Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), $20.99-$22.99, 90 points, poured a rainbow of reds with ruby dominant, soft purple/red and orange hues near the broad clear wine ring and leggy glass wall.
Aromatic red fruits, chocolate, toasty blueberry, and flowers were good.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and a supportive underlayment of tannin carried flavors of sweet tobacco, violets, strawberry, and other red fruits with a hint of blueberry on a rather rough ride.
Finished well on cayenne pepper, 14% alcohol, and an escalating tannic presence.
