Guido Natalino La Caplana Gavi (Piedmont, Italy) del Comune di Gavi DOCG, 2013 White wine (Cortese), $15.26-$16.95, 89 points, was a straw yellow color.
Smells of orchard blossoms and orange peel were exceptional.
Light bodied with good acidity carried a broad range of citrus flavors, from orange peel, lemon oil, tangerine notes, with hints of lime and grapefruit were most complex and unusually strong for a Gavi wine.
Finished long on citrus, green melon, a touch of ginger, and a well integrated 12% alcohol.
This very sophisticated white wine from Italy, with great table-setting gravitas, was bought at Angela's pasta and cheese.
Butch Lavigne,
Angela's, passed away; my deepest sympathies.
He will be missed.
