Viña Alarba 2006 Old Vines Grenache (Calatayud), Spain, $7.99-$14.99, 88 points, poured a lovely deep ruby with a band of orange tones toward the broad clear wine ring and leggy glass wall.
Smells of blueberry and boysenberry jam with warm wood notes were quite good.
The fair-plus acidity and firm grainy tannin were carried on a crisp energetic texture (medium-bodied).
Flavors were straight forward red cherry with coffee notes.
Finished long on mint, warm spice and a very noticeable 14.5%alcohol.
