Frei Brothers Alexander Valley 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

Frei Brothers Alexander Valley 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, $21.99-$24.99, 89 points, appeared an opaque maroon trending a deep ruby-red with a broad clear wine ring and considerable debris (decant).
Smells of cedar and black currant with hints of peat and violets were good.
The medium-plus body carried good acidity and moderately supportive grainy tannin.
Frei Brothers managed with aplomb the many flavors of juicy black fruit, hints of licorice, and cardamom.
Finished fair on warm pepper notes, hints of spearmint, damson plumb, and a well integrated 14.2% alcohol.
