Cupcake Vineyards (California) 2016 Rosé, $7.99-$12.99, 86 points, poured a Peach Rosé color.
The shy floral strawberry aroma was okay.
Light-plus body with good acidity carried flavors of strawberry and watermelon rind deep into the fair finish accented with spicy white pepper, a hint of cotton candy, and a potent 13.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my cheese enchiladas.
Cupcake Vineyards continues to produce adequate wines with a reasonable Quality/Price/Ratio (QPR) which fit broadly into the Super Market niche.

Interesting reading about your Cupcake adventures. Never had the stuff and, to be quite honest, the colour of that rosé is a little anemic.
ReplyDeleteJust read this: "Launched in 2008, Cupcake Vineyards is America’s #1 Premium wine $8+ by volume, according to Nielsen." Hmm, "$8.00" and "premium" in one sentence seems a little specious to me.
Premium Industrial! However the hoi polloi, of which I count myself, are busy with their thing(s), not knowing what our wine-thing can really be; sort of like someone that grew-up on fast food never really tasting the art of a true chef.
DeleteThe 'need' for an awaking is what I want my blog to be, as it has been for me.
VG: As always, thank you for your comments.
