Charles Krug Peter Mondavi Family Saint Helena-Napa Valley 2016 Sauvignon Blanc

Charles Krug Peter Mondavi Family Saint Helena-Napa Valley 2016 Sauvignon Blanc, $14.44-$19.99, 88 points, poured a light brass color with gray highlights.
Aromas of melon, citrus, and fresh-cut grass were good.
Light-bodied and crisp with citrus, lemongrass, and apple flavors which carried through to the finish.
Paired well with my steamed Gulf of Maine lobster in drawn butter and Ritz cracker stuffing.
I'm finding the Cali 2016 vintage of Sauvignon Blanc to a bit spotty and inconsistent; should be interesting to see the 'vintage charts' when they are formulated.

  1. Note to self: With only ten Cali SBs tasted so far this year (not a big sampling), I've found myself not enjoying some of my favorites as much as in the recent past.

  2. Haven't tried this, probably should.
I agree with you (and I probably have had a larger sampling), some of the go-to SBs have been a disappointment.

    1. VG: Thank you for your comments!
I can't repeat tasting the high number of Cali SB (62) every year as I did the 2013 vintage, but wished I could (one of the best white wines).

    1. VG: I made a concentrated effort to experience one special varietal; would love to do that with Cali CS.
