Villa Antinori 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva (DOCG), $24.64-$32.99, 93 points, poured a deeply brilliant ruby red with violet highlights, a broad clear meniscus, and raining stained legs.
A bouquet of milling spices, loam, black tea, rich black fruit, olives, and rose-pedal were outstanding.
Slightly heavier than a medium-bodied red wine, dry, sleek, firmly structured (good acidity and tannin), and magically delicious with hints of mint as well as flavors reflective of the aromas carried deep into the long finish marked by violets, black cherry fruit, and a spot-on 14% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with our Ollie's supreme pizza.
The best example of this wine I've tasted, the trend continues to improve, and compares exceptionally well with the Gran Selezione wines.
