Bodega Y Viñedos Catena High Mountain Vines 2019 Malbec, $16.95-$22.99, 91 points, poured an almost black ruby red with purple highlights, a clear wine ring, and light hanging legs.
Aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherry, earth, and hints of clove were a bit quiet, but pleasant.
A full-bodied dry red wine with good acidity, a supportive underlayment of tannin, upfront silky texture, and deep flavors of anise, black fruit, dry cooking herbs, mint, loam, and white pepper excelled.
Finished long on a sharper tannic presence, accelerating spiciness, and a well-balanced 13.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my tostadas.
