Castellare 2013 Chianti Classico, $21.99-$24.99, 91+ points, poured a bright lovely ruby color with a broad clear rim at the rather leggy glass wall.
Cherries, strawberry, and truffle with a hint of roses on the nose were very rich and pleasant.
Medium-bodied with lively acids and comfortably supportive tannins balanced lusciousness with crispness.
Flavors mirrored the aromas and were complimented by rosemary and mint.
Finished long on the trailing palate, a well integrated 13.5% alcohol, tobacco, eucalyptus, and warm spices.
Paired perfectly with tomato, basil, asiago, and mozzarella cheese meatballs, a compatible ravioli, all in a white bean marinara. Yum! When a perfect meal meets a perfect wine the day is all smiles (I could almost sing). :-)~
