Cameron Hughes Lot 418 Oakville Napa Valley 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon

Cameron Hughes Lot 418 Oakville Napa Valley 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon,  $17.99-$26.99, 91 points, appeared a deep Bordeaux purple/red with flashes of maroon and a broad clear wine ring.
Aromatic cedar, black currant, blackberry and truffle were quite pleasant.
Full-bodied with good acidity and supportive moderate tannins complimented a rich flavor profile that not only mirrored the aromas, but added black licorice, red cherry, mulling spices, and cola notes.
Finished long on a warm 14.4% alcohol, a trailing palate, red and black pepper.

  1. In general, how do you feel about wine négociants?

    1. VG: You know I'm about In Vino Veritas, but I'm fairly sure there's a niche for them, but and if my memory serves me well, I've not always been a fan of the results; it seems that there's an extra step to bottling or making wine, and that's got to be problematic.
I've tasted CH wines before, but this is the best of them I've tasted, and consistently good the next day as well.

  2. I know the 'wine-merchant' has along, storied European tradition...it's just the USA version leaves me cold (no real explanation).
