Banfi Castello 2010 Brunello DI Montalcino, $29.99-$32.99 (375ml), 94 points, poured a lovely ruby trending pomegranate red toward the leggy glass bowl and broad clear wine ring.
Loads of red fruit, truffle, and cedar on the nose were quite good and dramatic for such a young Brunello.
The medium body, with layered grainy tannins trending deep and accentuated into the finish, were perfectly complimented by good food friendly acids.
Bourbon flavors augmented with pomegranate, red cherry, and hints of strawberry and mint were excellent.
Finished long on the trailing palate, a warm 14% alcohol, just a touch of tar, and crisp spice notes.
Just maybe the best Banfi Castello Brunello I've tasted (excluding Poggio Alle Mura).
