Madrigal Napa Valley 2011 Zinfandel,
$13.99-$29.99, 87+ points, appeared deep ruby trending rosewood red toward the broad clear wine ring.
Smells of red cherry, earthy black fruit, and a whiff of alcohol were okay.
Medium-plus body managed fair acidity with a layered underlayment of tannin.
Flavors of plum, mulberry, coffee notes, and anise were fair.
Finished long on the trailing palate, good warm spice, and a spike of the 14.8% alcohol.
