Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley 2006 Merlot, $94.99-$125.00 (1.5L), 90 points, poured a deep purple/red color with a thin clear wine ring.
The nose was a splendid licorice, plum, black cherry, and vanilla which carried well onto the palate. The 2006 Duckhorn was typically Merlot smooth despite the noticeable acidity; that smoothness was in part due to the now mostly tamed tannin.
Finished well on a warm 14.5% alcohol, a bit herbaceous, and good pepper notes.
