Clos Du Val Napa Valley 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, $31.99-$39.99, 90+ points, poured core black with maroon flashes trending a crushed black currant toward the clear wine ring.
Aromas of black grape, toasty blackberries, and cedar notes with hints tobacco were good.
The silky medium-plus body carried good acidity, soft supportive tannin, and ripe flavors reflective of the aromas with hints of black currant and chocolate.
Finished long on a more noticeable tannin, the trailing palate, bright warm spice, and a well integrated 14.1% alcohol.
Pizza perfect pairing went (goes) without saying.
