Fritz Estate Dry Creek Valley 2014 Zinfandel, $17.99-$25.99 (birthday gift), 89 points, poured an impenetrable purple/red with a clear wine ring and medium hanging legs.
Aromatic earth, dusty blackberry, soft red raspberry, and a floral perfume were better than the aromas I remembered coming from the 2013 vintage.
The medium-plus body's split personality with its smooth/wild qualities managed to work its good acidity and supportive tannins into a matrix conducive to wild fruity flavors.
Finished well on the trailing fruit with warm pepper spices, truffle/earth notes, and an accommodating 14.6% alcohol.
