Mega Petite 2014 Petite Sirah, $8.49-$18.99, 86 points, poured an impregnable purple/red with a broad clear rim and moderate glass sheeting.
Smells of leather, mulberry, and plum were just okay for me.
Full-bodied with good acidity and a trough of tough tannins managed to deliver flavors reflective of the aromas and carry them deep into the fair finish marked by easy white pepper and the 13.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my spice-rubbed rare Angus rib eye steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus tips.
Varietals were 77% Petite Sirah, 15% Malbec, and 8% Teroldego.

PS is great when done well, terrible when done poorly.
ReplyDeleteNot a train wreck, but nothing like the Stags' Leap.
