Ridge Lytton Springs 2015 Red Wine, $35.69-$41.99, 93 points, poured core black with shimmering ruby to Shiraz purple/red with a broad meniscus and thick sticky legs.
Aromas of blackberry liqueur, a whiff of cedar, soft coffee notes, an undercurrent of cocoa, and a sense of coconut were 'Ridge' bouquet excellent.
The near-full body delivered a sleek texture knitting together appropriate acidity, luscious tannins, and a pepper-spice laced blackberry/red raspberry flavor profile.
Finished long on the trailing palate, licorice, fig, Kirsch, and a spot-on 14.5% alcohol.
Varietals were 74% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, 8% Carignane, and 2% Mourvèdre.
Paired perfectly with our cheese burgers.
Ridge, why it's a "go to" winery.

Had a Ridge, 2016 Chard yesterday...possibly one of the worst CHs I have ever tasted.
ReplyDeleteVG: Though I haven't had a Ridge Chardonnay in 7 years, and that was okay, not outstanding, but good, and since they're expensive, what was your diagnosis?
