La Craie 2013 Vouvray, $16.16-$17.95, 88+ points, poured a pale straw yellow trending gray toward the glass shallows.
Lovely subtle aromas of citrus, mint, and a floral note impressed.
Light-bodied with good acidity carried a straight-forward citrus profile, lemon and clementine being prominent.
Finished on the trailing palate, a slight chalky minerality, tart citrus note, orange peel, ginger, and a well integrated 12.5% alcohol.
As the wine warmed it gained complexity and charm.
Paired well with broccoli/cheddar soup and fried cod loin.
I bought this Vouvray (Chenin Blanc) at Angela's Pasta in Manchester.
