Victor Vineyards Lodi Old Vine 2011 Zinfandel

Victor Vineyards Lodi Old Vine 2011 Zinfandel, $8.99-$17.99, 84 points, poured a dark maroon trending a pretty rosewood red with a clear wine ring.
Smells like tart black cherry and pomegranate.
Medium-bodied with fair acidity and mild to moderate tannins carried tangy/tart flavors reflective of the aromas with a hint of eucalyptus and over ripe strawberry.
The finish was the highlight of this Zinfandel, with an escalating eucalyptus, the trailing palate, warm spice notes, and a sweet-spot 14.5% alcohol going fairly long.
I know many wine lovers love Lodi, and there are some good Lodi AVA Zins out there, but for me, I'm always leery and just wouldn't pay the big-end price for a Lodi Zin I had no knowledge of. As for the Victor, under $10 was an okay price (no regrets).
