Bubblies For New Year's Eve, who has the inside scoop on what to celebrate with?
You have the inside scoop!
Champagne, they tell me, can be extraordinary; I wouldn't know, cause of the usually extraordinary price; I've veered toward some extraordinary Prosecco, Cava, Gruet from right here in New Mexico, and a few outstanding Champagne-like bubblies from California and the North West USA; not as 'traditional', but prices are much more reasonable, and the bubbles still go up, not down, contrary to BFG's concoction.
And here are my tasted and reviewed sparkling wines since I've been blogging:
Sparkling White Wines: My humble beginning, not Prosecco, nor Cava, nor Rosé: see separately.
Cava (Spanish Sparkling Wines)
Prosecco (Italian Dry, Extra Dry, and Brut White Sparkling Wines)
Gruet Brut Rosé, $12.23-$18.99, 89 points MUMM Napa Valley Brut Rosé, $16.99-$19.99, 92 points
Emeri De Bortoli Australian Sparkling Pink Moscato, $9.99, 89 points
Jacob's Creek Sparkling Moscato Rosé, (Australia) $11.99-$14.99, 88 points
Meinklang Frizzante 2014 Pinot Noir Rosé $17.96-$19.95, 86 points (Austria)

I see you have found a Fraciaciorta that I haven't tried (jealous!). The Gruet is a great value for money, but I'm still a Mumm Napa-girl on the domestic front.
ReplyDeleteVG: When it comes to bubblies you lead me by the nose! ;-)
DeleteAs long as the nose is yeast, apples and toast. Cheers, NHW!
