Château Puygueraud, Francs-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, 2015 Bordeaux Red Wine

Château Puygueraud, Francs-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, 2015 Bordeaux Red Wine, $16.57-$19.49, 88 points, poured a deep garnet red with a broad clear meniscus and stained hanging legs.

Smells of bell pepper, black cherry, a hint of shoe-polish, and a touch of funk, were just okay for me.

More than a medium-bodied dry red wine with good acidity, a firm underlayment of tannin, and rich flavors marked by Ouzo notes, cherry fruit, and floral whispers, but trended a bit vegetative, yet overall proved balanced and tasty.

Finished very long on the trailing palate, iron, red-pepper spiciness, and a well balanced 14.5% alcohol.

Varietals were 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec.

Paired perfectly with my spice-rubbed Angus strip steak and vegie smoked chili.
