Poggio Castagno 2014 Brunello di Montalcino, $29.74-$69.99, 93 points, poured with a core of explosive ruby grading a lovely coral orange toward the rim, terminating with a broad clear meniscus and thin almost unnoticeable legs.
Aromas of dynamic floral red raspberry nuanced with whispers of bourbon, mulling-spiced rosewood, and cherry bitters were outstanding!
A medium-bodied dry red wine with bright acidity, firm grainy tannins, and a thin reflection of the aromas on the palate were Brunello typical.
Finished long on the fading palate, hints of citrus, savoy, black tea, jasmine, and a spot-on 14% alcohol.
Paired as well with my rare spiced Angus strip steak as any recent Bordeaux red wine.
For those that love Chianti and/or Tempranillo, this gets a BIG buy recommendation!
