Primoverso Puglia 2018 Primitivo, $16.99-$41.99, 92 points, poured an opaque rosewood red with a broad clear wine ring and fat, dense, stained, and hanging legs.
One of loveliest Zinfandel bouquets I've had the pleasure of experiencing: with aromas of plum, briar fruit, black tea, and tar which were outstanding.
This was a full-bodied dry red wine with bright acidity, a firm underlayment of tannin, and rich, Napa valley-like richness and complexity in its fruit, anise, and dried herb flavors.
Finished well on the fading palate, red cherry notes, clove, and a big 14.5% alcohol.
Paired fine with my five-cheese Chicago-styled pizza.
