Caymus Napa Valley 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon

Caymus Napa Valley 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, $40.99-$59.99, 93+ points, poured nearly black throughout, but tapering purple before the clear rim ring.
Black olives, cedar, lilac, sweet cooking spices, and lush blackberries highlighted an excellent bouquet.
The full body carried good acidity, manageably strident tannin, and flavors reflective of the bouquet dominated by anise.
Black cherry cordial, damson plum, sweet black licorice, white pepper, and a well integrated 14.6% alcohol climaxed this outstand value Cabernet Sauvignon.
Keep in mind that this is a very big wine with complex flavors requiring complimentary food pairings (provided you don't just drink this wine by itself) like Mediterranean lamb, marinated venison, heavily spiced beef, and rich stews; just my opinion!

  1. I have a bottle of this that was given to me back in May, (as a thank you for dog-sitting). Can't believe Caymus bottled/released it so quickly. Shall have to compare notes!!!
