Excelsior South African 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon

Excelsior South African 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, $7.19-$10.99, 86 points, was near black at the core trending a deep ruby toward the clear rim-ring and leggy glass wall.
The nose was very grapey with blackberry and toasty black currant.
Slightly more than a medium bodied red wine with fair acidity and mellow tannin which carried flavors that reflected the nose.
Accelerating spice on the finish was pronounced and arguably the best aspect of this Cabernet, but grape flavors trekked its way here as well, and finally hints of the 14.5% alcohol capped-off a fair red table wine.
