Quinta Do Crasto D.O.C. 2011 Douro Reserva Red Wine, $36.99, 92+ points, poured black, except toward the blood-red rim with its transparent ring and heavy draping.
Aromatic with toasty black cherry, sweet tobacco, black currant, cinnamon, and just a hint of sandalwood.
Possessing a nearly full-body with good acidity, layered grainy tannins, a velvetly texture, and rich flavors of cherries, cola, black licorice with a floral component, this Quinta Do Crasto Red Wine easily became my favorite red wine from Portugal.
Finished very long with accelerating hot spice, developing plum notes, and warmth from the 14.5% alcohol.
