Cesari MARA D.O.C. 2011 Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore, $19.99-$44.99, 89 points, appeared deep ruby trending crushed black currant purple at the very broad clear wine ring.
Sea breezes, lavender, raisins, and plums on the nose were good.
Medium-plus body carried good acidity and mellow tannin with satisfying flavors reflective of the nose, and hints of boysenberry.
Finished fair with black licorice, warm spice, and a well integrated 13.5% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my sausage rigatoni.
