Charles Krug Napa Valley 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, $16.19-$31.99*, 90 points, poured an opaque sienna color with a broad clear wine ring and moderate glass sheeting.
Aromatic floral/evergreen potpourri was outstanding.
Full-bodied with good acidity and a supportive underlayment of tannin managed the balanced complex array of flavors lead by black currant, plum, coffee notes, and anise garnished with chocolate and herbs.
Finished long on damson plum, red currant, subdued white pepper, increasing sense of drying tannin, and a potent 14.7% alcohol.
Paired fine with our loaded pizza.
*$16.19 closeout at Hannaford's Super Market of Bedford.
