Chateau David Beaulieur 2015 Bordeaux Superieur, $9.99-$11.99, 86 points, appeared as an opaque purple/red with a broad clear wine ring and moderate legs.
Early blueberry aroma evolved into black cherry, youthful mulberry, and a hint of the sea.
Near full-bodied with good acidity and austere tannins struggled to get past a plummy flavor profile while suppressing its medley of black fruit and a hint of tobacco.
Finished long on plum, tart mulberry, warm spices, and a controlled 13% alcohol.
Varietals were 70% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc, and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Paired fine with our beef goulash.
