Far Niente Napa Valley "Oakville" 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, $121.74-$154.99, 95 points, poured black throughout but for a blood-red barrier before the broad clear wine rim and heavy tearing on the glass bowl.
One of the most fragrant bouquets I've experienced in a long time; violets, cassis, coffee, and a bounty of nuanced potpourri aromas managed to blow me away.
Full-bodied with good acidity and fine durable tannins supported flavors reflective of the aromas which trekked deep into an enduring slightly tart pomegranate finish accented with bodacious warm spices, plum, black fruit, and a spot-on 14.5% alcohol.
Big, bold, and black Cabs, like this gem, deserve rare bison or bovine steaks, but don't give-up on a more parochial ground beef burger if that's what mum or dad has prepared for dinner.
