Wine, My 2017 Retrospective.
NHWM begins 2018 by looking back at some events and people in the world of wine that I don’t want to or shouldn’t forget.
I want to remember people that helped shape over the past year, in a positive way, my own adopted culture of wine as food; food, that which we think about and respond to most of the day every day of our lives. Some will be satisfied with Taco Bell’s and others won’t; some will be satisfied with Cupcake wines, and others will look to Tuscany, Bordeaux, or Napa wines for indulgence or gratification.
People in the ‘business’ (vintners), enthusiasts (oenophile), or people which are just tangentially touched by wine and have ‘good’ souls.

Over the years earthquakes, hail storms, freezes, droughts, and heat-waves have made the world of wine headlines, this year was no different, especially the earthquakes of Italy, but nothing was so traumatic as the Northern California fires of 2017.
Resulting in the death of 42 people (unaccounted for animals and pets), destruction of some 5,000 structures, costing more than $6,000,000,000, and causing untold heartache, the wine-country fires of 2017 will long be chronicled. Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino Fires Burn Within Our Chests.
Like last year's libatious Wine Week 2017, so again in 2018, many will be looking forward to all the gala, excitement, and salesmanship anyone should expect in the frigid far North Wine Week 2018.
In 2018 I'll be looking forward to tasting more Port!
I'll be looking forward to tasting more Bordeaux!
And I'll be looking forward to tasting more of everything, day by day!
