Marchesi de Frescobaldi, Gorgona, Costa Toscana IGT, 2014 White Wine (Italy), $84.99-$169.99, 95 points, poured an unusual copper/gold color.
Aromatic tangerine and fresh-cut hay were excellent.
A full-bodied white wine that is the textural white wine counterpart to the Mollydooker Velvet Glove Shiraz red wine.
This gorgeous Gorgona wine showed good acidity and mirrored flavors of the aromas with a touch of Red delicious apple.
Finished with the same finesse that it began with: long, gingery, and a perfect 13% alcohol.
Paired 'hand-in-glove' with my fried New England clams.
Varietals were Vermentino and Ansonica (Inzolia).
