Jed Steele's Shooting Star Lake County 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, $9.99-$16.99, 87 points, poured an iron-red color with copious clear legs and a thin clear meniscus.
Aromas of shoe polish, a hint of Bordeaux lily, underbrush, loam, and ripe blackberry were pleasant.
A full-bodied dry red wine with fair acidity, soft tannins, and flavors of fennel, anise, cinnamon, and red cherry made for a good red table wine.
Finished long on the tertiary flavors with a hint of mint, red cherry infused cinnamon, and a well-balanced 14.2% alcohol.
Paired perfectly with my prosaic hamburger.
